A welcoming community orchestra for anyone who loves playing music.

COME BE A PART OF THE MUSIC

The Duluth Civic Orchestra is a welcoming community of musicians who come together to rehearse, perform, and share orchestral music with our region.

You might be a longtime player, someone picking your instrument back up after years away, or someone who started learning outside of school and is looking for the chance to play with other musicians for the first time.

We do not hold auditions. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where musicians of many backgrounds can come together and make music.

To play with the orchestra, musicians should:

  • Play a standard orchestral instrument.
  • Provide their own instrument.
  • Be comfortable preparing and playing high school–level orchestral repertoire.
  • Be ready to rehearse and collaborate with other musicians
  • Make your best effort to attend rehearsals and concerts.
  • Be respectful of all backgrounds and identities of other members and our audience.

What to expect for rehearsals and concerts:

  • We rehearse and perform at Lincoln Park Middle School.
  • We currently have two seasonal sessions – Fall/Winter and Spring. We take summers off, and it is a great time to join another local group!
  • We rehearse once per week, on Tuesdays from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
  • We perform a concert at the end of each seasonal session, free for the public.

Not looking to commit to every rehearsal or concert?

We also keep a list of occasional and substitute players who are interested in joining us when we need a particular instrument. If that sounds like a better fit for you, feel free to reach out and let us know.
